It is supposed to cool 640 square Ft but does a pretty good of cooling the entire house (2412 square ft), that is until the temperature got above 100 degrees. I was so impressed with the 12,000 BTU unit, that I ordered the 22,000 BTU Frigidaire for the only double hung window in my house, got it installed, and tried to plug it into the wall receptacle...surprise, surprise, it is a 220V plug. I got an electrician to put in a 220V receptacle for me and the AC works wonderfully so far. This unit is great - cool, dehumidify, but mostly it's very quiet. There are only a small change in the decibel level when the compressor against, if he is not running. The device is designed to be mounted in a wooden window frame, but take eight screws in your woodworking. Good ideas, poor execution by the blind girl I bought this thing because my old bedroom with air conditioning, aka "The Bazooka", if enabled in the middle of the night, afraid of my bejezuz half asleep mind. (And dogs). (And fish). That this thing deserves every one of the stars, because it does not scare me awake. It's actually pretty quiet. Not silent, but when it comes to the lowest fan setting - it's definitely bearable. Beware, however, makes it easy swishing sound of water as the manufacturer says is normal. It was an absolute nightmare to install (and I consider myself talented in the art of things together). Even with low humidity of New Mexico to cool the unit every room, but close to the unit, blows you facilitation of 3-4 degrees (marked with a good thermometer), plus the benefits of air, the lateral movement. Bells and whistles ("natural" and "sleep" mode) are crap, and the unit is quite loud on the lowest speed (unbearably so with high speeds). Good unit, lousy support from Wayne Paterson As another reviewer mentioned, Amana does not recognize the existence of these units rebadged Haier on its website. Haier has unfortunately not seem to recognize, support by practically impossible. The a / c unit requires a small window (or a large heavily blocked), which can take a lot of work if your windows are not the right size, but it is true of such a unit. It is a very practical device, without empty bucket. It is also quite loud, with strange controls that require the remote control. It was great the first year we had, the less the second, despite careful storage. They would probably be better with a domestic production (or European or Japanese) unit, if you find one. 5 of 6 people found this review helpful. By Kevin Johnston large unit its great. SUMMARY Phillips Pierce: 5 / 5 stars - glad I bought enthusiastically recommend it to friends, and not hesitate to buy a new model window fan ----- This Lasko 2155A - also sold as the 9155 model King Air - is a true blessing for me. I live in the Deep South (Georgia), where the sweltering summer heat index (H + heating near 100% humidity), often reaches 130 or more - and no air conditioning. For me, a big fan of the whole house a window like this makes all the difference between comfort and hell in July and August roll around (which is July 27th as I write this, and I'm sitting near the window with the fan upon him). This is truly a house window fan, and costs much less to operate than an air conditioner. Lovely room / small air conditioner for the home of T. ice Hour ------ August update of this product: EER rating of 9.8 underestimate this product efficiency. I live in NC and it was hot in June, with no signs of slowing down. Today 08/11/11 was the first in more than sixty days, the high temperature was below 90th It 'been 87th (Cloudy and rainy);) For the most part was above the middle-90. June. But when I got my electric bill in July to June was only $ 54 I was like ok, it will take a month for energy consumption to show. I've just recievied my account in August for the month of July and was only $ 57th Honestly !!!!!!!!!! And let me tell you, this device produced by my mind .. ;) I used not to give a series of EER another look, but now it is everything you want, when you buy something electrical. Even at 110 volts, putting it out as much air as cool as my old 220-unit outside. If I am still using (0utside drive) my electricity bill would be well over $ 120 ------ After reading some of the reviews for this product, I was a bit skeptical. Not so much for the product, but how it was delivered. Some shippers reported injuries. Mine arrived intact and in very good condition. I can say now that all these fans are designed and built super cheap and none of these fans are perfect, but some are much worse than others. Holmes Twin Window Fan HAWF2043: my rating - 3 out of 5 stars that you bought the unit HAWF2043 Holmes. It is light and size of the window very well, although I had problems with the extension that is on the right. Floodgates for the Extender is off to the right along the top and bottom of the fan, which is extremely stupid, because as soon as the fan in your window frame and attaches to the bottom and you can move the extender I mean, what rocket scientist thought of this? I read the reviews and was worried about the temperature gauge does not work but for the price I gave it a shot anyway. I asked the man selling the rate of return for the product and told me that no one had been returned (I did not really believe it, but went ahead with the purchase anyway). I actually plugged in and the temperature started to rise, increased HI and remained there. In addition to the fan it was great. Quiet, secure, remote worked fine. I went back to the store and saw the display model was doing the same thing. I could not believe that the project of the group so that the circuits heat up the thermometer. I thought that some poor children in the factory, had lost a step in the assembly process. Last night, I took it apart and found the wireless thermometer. It was on the whole board Everything I did was to wire thermometer to abandon the board and when I put back together and plugged it in, it worked as it should have in the first place. A good window fan is a real blessing to a fan person, and doubly so if that fan can be set to blow in two directions. There are two 3-speed fans in the unit, each of which can be set for air intake or exhaust, or for air exchange, when one blows in and one out. Living with Easy Buy this fan if you want something discreet, easy to fit into a window, and when "ACU-Temp" feature that you want. If you live in a climate where you sometimes want a bit more cooling, but do not really need the AC, its ideals, especially when space is limited. It gives a good solid win and quietly. It's still a fan, of course, will not say who remain silent. Another reviewer complained about airflow, and I will not tell her a huge explosion that you get a big fan of ... but ... it's not a big fan, it is. High on this fan is more like medium in a large heavy-fan I like a cool bedroom and that fan has a lot of air for me. Using "Acutemp" thermostat, you do not stand up and turn off the fan and / or get a blanket in the middle of the night (the old one was so loud it kept me up so I was awake anyway). Choose your level of airflow and temperature at which you want to turn off the fan, then go to bed when it's still hot and you want a fan, but then cools down to the end (at least here in the Northwest Pacific ago, thanks to goddess) and the fan turns in the same way, you can set to switch on when a certain temperature in the room. Of course you can also just turn the fan on low or high-MED (1, 2, or 3) without automatically. Good deal if you need a portable A / C, says Consumer Reports this portable air conditioner is much less efficient than a comparable window unit. It is definitely more expensive than an air conditioner (probably at least twice as much), you pay for looks and convenience, not functionality. (It is easy to unplug and turn it away in a corner or a closet.) I bought two of these for two rooms with double hung windows which pose problems for window units - and I did not want to bother with installation and then removal of bulky window units each season. One room is a large room with a cathedral ceiling, and Frigidaire portable air conditioner has no problem keeping it cool. Options for placing the device is quite limited - is not a flexible conduit must be run from the back of your device to a window (or hole through an exterior wall), and also needed an outlet nearby, preferably in a closed circle. Avoid at all costs! After only one month of operation, I began to experience major problems with this device, first pump fails, the compressor was very loud until finally, it stopped blowing cold air at all.
