Good deal if you need a portable A / C, says Consumer Reports this portable air conditioner is much less efficient than a comparable window unit. It is definitely more expensive than an air conditioner (probably at least twice as much), you pay for looks and convenience, not functionality. (It is easy to unplug and turn it away in a corner or a closet.) I bought two of these for two rooms with double hung windows which pose problems for window units - and I did not want to bother with installation and then removal of bulky window units each season. One room is a large room with a cathedral ceiling, and Frigidaire portable air conditioner has no problem keeping it cool. Options for placing the device is quite limited - is not a flexible conduit must be run from the back of your device to a window (or hole through an exterior wall), and also needed an outlet nearby, preferably in a closed circle. Avoid at all costs! After only one month of operation, I began to experience major problems with this device, first pump fails, the compressor was very loud until finally, it stopped blowing cold air at all. You think this is a problem, because it was still under warranty, I was wrong. Frigidaire customer service is the worst. First, send me a "Frigidaire authorized representative" who tells me up front, that he knew nothing about the device. He took it with him. After hearing nothing for two weeks, I contacted Frigidaire again only to learn that they are not the parts to fix this because this is a 2004 model. (Guess Amazon sell old products). They told me that they call me back when they decide whether I "deserve" a new device or not. She suggested I contact Amazon and "try" to get a refund from them. I do not think Frigidaire knows the meaning of their "guarantee". I'll post an update if and when Amazon Frigidaire or decide to terminate my situation update: Frigidaire finally honor the warranty, and delivered me a full refund. Defective - noisy - not the value of 9000 BTU cooling I needed an air conditioner for a window size is odd, and thought this group would be my answer. Unfortunately, it was not. For a month, I was happy. I questioned the "9000 BTU" known outside a laboratory, because the hot air reduces efficiency far from perfect, but - hey! - It 's cool my room. Then the noise started. The decibel was up until I could talk without shouting over the phone, much less sleep. When the unit to cease completely, the mystery was solved. The internal pump that expels the condensate through a pipe had failed. The compressor fan thrown against the polished ice. Frigidaire Now I can not find either a replacement unit or parts. Bottom line - bad design. De Longhi better, but not always.
